The results of the first round of presidential elections is a catastrophe for democracy and risks giving fruit to a social implosion in our country. Now is no longer the time to point the finger at petty political differences but rather to rally all who want to save France and democracy from this nightmare.

 

It is vital for everyone to unite around the principles of the Republic in order to bring down the extreme right.

 

Beyond the second round of elections, where more than ever voting is crucial, it is also in the streets on May First where we have to give Le Pen our first reply as he also needs the streets to attain his perpetual dream of taking power. For that reason it is firstly there where we need to mobilize.

 

It is not the time for social division or feelings of pity but rather to join forces. We cannot be discouraged and hang down our heads but instead take example from all the youth, all throughout France, who have expressed their rejection of hate and racism.

 

Therefore, SOS Racisme has called for a massive demonstration the first of May for all citizens, unions, and associations to silence the hate and to affirm the principles of the Republic.
